Circuits, conductors and insulators

Teacher has found a musical toy that helps us learn all about circuits, conductors and insulators.
If we make a circuit (one person, or two or more) touching the silver buttons then the music will play.
We can play the music when we make a circuit by touching other peoples skin or teeth (so we know that skin and teeth are conductors of electricity).

Touching through clothes will not make the toy play music (so we know that clothes are insulators).
It is so much fun learning scientific concepts through play.

Library Visit

We went to Ballybane Library today to find out about the summer programme.
The librarians were SO helpful.
Here is a list of the free workshops we can do at the beginning of the summer.
Teacher was fascinated to learn about the FREE app she can put on her phone and ipad that will let her borrow books, audiobooks and magazines for free.
Ask at the library, they have all the information there.
Library times: Tuesday to Saturdays 11-1 and 2-5.

Whales and Sharks Drama Activities

We had a great time doing drama activities with the theme of whales and sharks.
We played Whale Out of Water and Yes-No-Black-Blue Taboo.
We read and enjoyed some poems about dolphins.
We had television interviews with experts on seal life.
What an experience!

Paired reading in the Senior school

Mr. Gleeson took us on a visit to the senior school today.
We did paired reading in Mr.Delaney's fourth class and we got to ask questions about the senior school.
Now we are looking forward to moving over to the senior school.
