The Nativity

Learning about squids

Noirín from the Explorers programme came to visit us again.
We were so happy to see her.
We really enjoyed talking about sea creatures on our collage.
Next Noirín helped us learn all about squids.
Here are some of the things we learned:

Noirín was really happy with us and with all we have learned and she presented each of us with a certificate, and a cert for the class.
 We are very proud.
Thank you so much Dr. Noirín Burke!
Here is a very interesting video about sea creatures:

Old and New Toys

Santa's toy sacks got mixed up.
We sorted the toys again for him into old and new toys.
We loved helping Santa.
Here's how we got on.

Well done to Ms. Bohan's class for their wonderful play which we saw in the halla today.

Carol Service

A huge "Congratulations" to our wonderful singers and readers.
Tonight's carol service was really special.
Well done to all!

Some Christmas stories

Christmas plays

We went to the halla today to see two amazing Christmas plays.
Ms. Crotty's Junior Infants and Ms. Flaherty's Senior Infant classes each put on a Christmas play.
The plays were absolutely wonderful.  Such great actors, actresses and singers.
Well done to both classes.

We also listened to a story from Germany of the first Christmas tree.
What a great story.

Instruments in the brass family

We learned about string instruments.  Today it was the turn of the brass instruments.
Teacher brought two instruments for us to look at:
The flugel horn (a coronet or trumpet and a much larger euphonium).
The flugel horn has a much higher sound than a euphonium because it is much smaller.
We listened to Jingle Bells and Twinkle Twinkle on both.
Teacher showed us how to vibrate our lips in case we ever try these instruments.

Here are other instruments in the brass family:

Katri came to visit us today.
As well as the lots of nice songs, rhymes, solfa s m d and action songs, we also played a fun game with hidden animals.

Number bonds

We are getting really good at number bonds now.
Today we looked at the number 7.
We are able to count to 7 and know which sets of 2 numbers make up the number 7.

Eating with chopsticks

We have learned all about China.
Today we tried using chopsticks.
We found this really hard, but most of us managed to pick up marshmallows with our chopsticks.

Investigating forces and types of energy

We learned all about forces today.
We could tell which forces were pushes, pulls or twists.
We were also really good at sorting types of energy into light energy, heat energy, sound energy and movement energy.
