Animal noises

Friday, Marcy 29th, 2012

We play a game in PE where each player has an animal card.  We have to find our partners (the baby and adult animal) by asking which card each person has.  There is a catch though - if we don't find our partner, we have to switch our card with the person we have just asked.   We all eventually find our partners.

Today our game changed - we kept our own cards until the game ended, but this time we had to find our partners by making the same noises.  This was a noisy but fun game.

Acting out the story of Oisín in Tír na nÓg

  Friday, March 29th, 2012
We loved hearing about the story of Oisín in Tír na nÓg so today we acted it out.
We had a lot of fun doing this

Goodbye to Kristina

Friday, March 29th, 2012
Today was Kristina's last day at our school.
She has been so nice to us, and has helped us with our art work and with our drama performance.
We wish her well with her teaching in Spain and hope she has a great Easter.
The Easter bunny visited our class today, and Kristina helped us with our egg hunt.  We had great fun.

Gallery on our corridors

 Friday, March 29th, 2012
We took a little walk along the corridors of our school.
It is like visiting a gallery.  We really like all the displays from all the classes in the school.

Blackbirds Nest

Ms. Lally brought in a blackbird's nest for us all to see.
We were absolutely amazed that birds (with no hands or arms) could make something so strong and perfect.
There were no eggs in this nest.  It is one that the blackbird no longer uses.
Thanks Ms. Lally for showing it to us.

Easter chicks

We have made lovely easter chick collage cards.
We really enjoyed sticking all the coloured crepe paper on the cards.

Houses in Renmore

Back in the classroom we chatted about all the different kinds of houses, and which we would choose to live in if we could.  The most popular choice was a castle.  Wouldn't it nice to be so rich, have a big castle, and never have to do any chores!

Ceolchoirm Rang a hAon

Chuaigh muid chuig ceolchoirm agus Paisean Faisean iontach inniu.
Rinne rang a hAon an-job ar fad do Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Bhí na páistí ar fheabhas ar fad agus bhain muid an-taitneamh as an maidin.
Maith sibh go léir!

We went to the hall this morning to see a fantastic concert and fashion show hosted by all the 1st classes for Irish Week.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable event.
Well done to all the 1st classes who were absolutely terrific.

Maths: Target boards

We have been having fun with target boards.  Today we did lots of counting with one of these boards.  We had to count how many red/blue/yellow/green/small/medium/large bears in each row/column/all together.  We also played a game, trying to remember which bear teacher had hidden.  This game was difficult but fun.  Some of us are really good at it.
We thought the next maths board was really eatsy.  We love finishing patterns with
different shapes (2D and 3D), different colours or different objects on it.

The parade

A huge kite

We saw a huge kite being flown in the pitch outside our school.  We know that the wind energy was keeping the kite flying in the sky.  There was even enough energy for the kite to pull the man holding the kite.  It was fun to watch.
