Shadows and Rainbows
Friday, September 11th, 2009More lovely weather! It was a great day for looking at shadows. We went outside and watched our shadows. We made big shadows, little tiny shadows, interesting shadows and one shadow even looked like an owl! We had a look at where the sun shines from to make a shadow. These shadows change with the time of the day and the months of the year - depending on where the sun is in the sky. Next we made some rainbows. Teacher had some prisms, triangular ones and rectangular ones. We used the prisms to catch the sunshine and turn the light into rainbows. Light passing through a prism is broken up into its 7 colours. We know these colours - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. We know the colours of the rainbow in Irish too - dath dearg, dath oráiste agus dath buí, dath glas, dath gorm, dath corcra....hé....bogha báistí!
