What happens to sweets in water and in fizzy drinks

We were wondering what would happen to jelly sweets if  we put them in fizzy drinks?

We tried this out.

We put some jellies into water and into fizzy drinks and we had a look to see what happened.

By Monday:

The sweets in water seem to have grown. They look bigger and the colours have gone out of them, but they are still in the water.

The sweets in the fizzy drinks seem to have disappeared.

We think that the fizzy drink dissolved the sweets.............that's not good news for those of us who drink lots of fizzy drinks and also hope to have nice strong white teeth!
