Hansel & Gretel Dress Rehearsal

It was such an exciting morning!
From the arrival of our Gingerbread house, kindly constructed by Yutaka and painted by the enormously talented Lorraine! ......
....... to the actual practice, in front of a live audience, Ms. Crotty's class.
 We have birds,
 giant sweets, lollipops, buns, candycane,
Dad, Hansel, Gretel and the very wicked stepmother!
We also have a horrible witch with her fireplace....
a forest of trees,
and a cage in which to keep Hansel.
Teacher was thrilled with our team effort.
Well done to our actors, our sets, props and costume managers and to all who are helping and encouraging us in our drama this year.

Drumming with Alan

We took our owl and Dino to drumming lessons today.
 Past our local scout den,
and in to our local community centre.
They got to meet Alan our drumming teacher.
He got us all to do warm ups before we began drumming.

Owl even had a turn to play our loud and soft Hide and Seek game.

Different kinds of houses

Today we talked about all sorts of different houses.

Which type of house would you most like to live in?
Here are the choices we made:

Chinese Lanterns & St. Brigid's Day

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year.
It is the Year of the Horse.
We made some nice Chinese Lanterns to decorate our hall.
St. Brigid's Day is on Saturday, February 1st.
We heard a wonderful story about how St. Brigid got land from a chieftain on which to build her church.
The chieftain told Brigid that she could have as much land as her cloak would cover.
Brigid's cloak grew and grew and covered enough land on which to build a church.
Here is our version of St. Brigid's cloak.
