Eating pancakes

We made pancakes in class.

We ate them with lemon and sugar.

They were absolutely delicious.

Chinese New Year on Thursday

On Thursday 19th February 2015 it will be the Chinese New Year.

It will be the year of the Goat (or sheep).

We made great dragons in art today.

Pancake Tuesday is tomorrow!

We learned a poem about pancakes today.

We also heard a great story about

Patrick's Perfect Pancake.

We hope to taste pancakes tomorrow.

Addition & Subtraction game

 Using our fingers we were able to figure out the answers to all these sums and were able to make the puzzle. 

 We are very proud of ourselves!

All about magnets

We had a wonderful session with magnets today.

After trying all the different things in groups we went round from table to table to discover

what magnets are attracted (stick) to

how the North pole is attracted to other North poles but repels South poles (attract and repel)

what magnets can work through

how to make a magnet using a nail or using a battery and wire (electromagnet)

We also had fun watching Tigtag films about magnetism and then discussing them.

Houses we like

We have been talking about different kinds of houses.

 We talked about 2 and 3 story houses, bungalows, dormer bungalows and thatched cottages,

 detached, semi-detached and terraced houses,

caravans, mobile homes, castles and house boats.

We chatted about the differences between these different types of houses 

and we made a data chart of the kinds of houses we like best.

Castles are the most popular!!!!

Valentine Candles

We have made some lovely heart shaped candle holders for Valentine's day.

First we rolled our clay into spheres,

Then we pressed the cutter onto the spheres, pressed in the tea light and took away the unnecessary clay.

We left our candle holders on the window sill to dry.

We will paint them later.

  Meanwhile, after talking about stain glass windows, we decided to make our own stain glass hearts.

They look gorgeous!

 Here are our finished Valentine's gifts.

We hope our parents like them.

We have news of the results.

Our class were absolutely marvelous in the Féile last Tuesday.

This is however the end of our drama journey for this year.

Teacher is SO pleased with how we acted and also how we behaved during this festival.

It will be St. Brigid's day on Sunday.

We made nice crosses today.
