A special visitor

We had a really special visitor in our class today.
We were so happy to see him.
We made some pictures for Santa and we showed him some magic tricks.
 We had a wonderful party.
We were all so good at sharing.
Merry Christmas to all our families!

Comparing Books

We read two fantastic books by the same author and the same illustrator in class today.
We really enjoyed The Gruffalo's Child and The Smartest Giant in Town
both written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
We used Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast the two books.

We put the things that they had in common into the middle of the two circles and we put the things that belonged in only one book into the piece of the circle that didn't overlap with another circle.
We even chose our favourite of the two books.
The Gruffalo's child was the more popular of the two books.
We love reading!

Telling the time

We are learning to tell the time.
We each had a clock of our own to help us.
We can only move the hour hands by moving the minute hands.
We are remembering to pay more attention to the little hand when we want to know what the hour is!

Printed Christmas cards

We used a tree stamper to print lovely Christmas cards for those we love.

Addition practice

We made a great data chart of our favourite Christmas things.
Look at what we love about Christmas.
We have got some new spinners in our class.
We played a great game putting counters on numbers that teacher called out, then adding numbers.
We are becoming very good at adding numbers.

Goodbye Mikel

Today was Mikel's last day with us.
Tonight he will fly home to the Basque country.
We will really miss him!
We worked together to make him a lovely card.
We hope he will never forget us.
We hope he will remember us!
We wish him every success in his future teaching career!
Goodbye Mikel and Thank You for everything!

The counting bus

We played a new maths game today.
Each of us had a counting bus and a bag full of passengers.
With teacher we made stories about the passengers who got on and off the bus.
We like grouping passengers and making up stories about these passengers.
We could even remember where each passenger was sitting when it was their turn to get off the bus.
We like this new game.

Class photos

A Christmas photo with Ms. McLoughlin and Mikel.

Christmas plays

We saw some excellent Christmas plays in the hall today.
Well done to Ms. Bohan's Senior Infants and Ms. Coade's Junior Infants for such wonderful singing, dancing, costumes and fun.
You have really put us in a Christmassy mood!
Ms. Flaherty's senior infant class did an absolutely fabulous play called Christmas With the Aliens. We really really enjoyed it. Congratulations to the whole class and to your teacher.

Photos from the carol service

Tonight's carol service was amazing!
Thank you so much to all the mums and dad who brought us to the church looking so nice in our uniforms.
We sang so well.
The teacher was so proud of us.

Christmas art

We made some super art masterpieces with help from Mikel.
We painted and decorated our papier mache Santa faces.
We coloured angels and put glitter on their wings.
We will stick these to toilet roll cores so then our angels can go at the top of our Christmas trees.
We painted lovely scenes of the first Christmas, and made a crib for our painted crib figures.
We really are enjoying the preparations for Christmas.
