Twirling birds: LEGO

We made twirly birds in LEGO today.  They were not too difficult.
We were able to programme them ourselves.
When they didn't work perfectly we were able to figure out where we went wrong.
We just LOVE LEGO programming!
Have a look at the videos of our lego twirly birds and our programming.

We are able to make our twirly birds change direction by twisting the elastic band at the front.

Strawberries and Onions

Today we harvested onions and strawberries from our garden.
Teacher washed and chopped them up so we could all taste them.
The strawberries and onions were absolutely delicious.

Fish in our class

Teacher looked up more about the goldfish.
It is a Sarasa Comet Goldfish, originally from China and is related to the Japanese koi fish.
It is an omnivorous fish and will eat all kinds of fresh, frozen and flake foods.  It would also like peas, zucchini and lettuce!
This fish can hope to live for 7-14 years.

We picked garlic from our garden yesterday and teacher cut it up for us so we could all taste it.

Beanstalks and Ladybirds

We planted runner beans in class and took them home before Easter.  Some of us have been minding them with lots of love.  A runner bean plant came back to visit us this week and we are really impressed.  It is HUGE!  Watch out for giants, golden harps and golden hens!
We had other interesting visitors in our class.  Two Junior Infants came to visit us with 3 ladybirds.  They were in a glass jar and we loved having a look at them.

The Olympic torch

The Olympic torch has arrived in Ireland.  Eve was in Derry over the June holiday and saw the Olympic Torch arrive.  The Olympics are being held in London this year.  It will be very exciting.

In Galway we are looking forward to the Volvo Ocean Race festival which begins on June 30th when we get our summer holidays.  That should be a great occasion too.
Check out the Olympic site at
