More pottery work

Friday, March 19th, 2010
We love working with clay. Today we did lots of things with clay. We pinched it, squeezed, rolled, squashed, molded, and made clay pinch pots (which we didn't leave to dry this time), and fantastic animals, which will dry on the window sill and which we can paint next week. Have a look at our work:

Floating, sinking and making boats

Look at the great science class we had on floating and sinking, making boats and giving passengers a ride in the boats.

Maths: Capacity

In Maths we are talking about capacity, what holds less, what holds more liquid. We are using non-standard units of measurement, such as cups, glasses, jugs. We got to guess the capacity of lots of different containers, then try them out. Our guesses are getting better with each try.

Art for St. Patrick's Day

We made headbands, shamrock caterpillars and lucky leprechauns for St. Patrick's Day. They look great!

Watching the Senior School parade

Friday, March 12th,2010

Today the Senior School marching band marched round Renmore. It was really thrilling. We made St. Patrick's Day headbands and went out to watch the parade. We watched it when it started, and again as it finished. The day was cloudy, and much cooler than recent days, but it was still nice. We really enjoyed watching the band. Well done to all in the senior school for putting on such a great parade for us!

Looking at Horse Chestnut Buds

Friday, March 5th, 2010
We have a small Horse Chestnut tree in our school. We took a look at the brown sticky buds on the tree today, and we had a look at the horseshoe shaped scars on the branches. We are looking forward to seeing the new spring leaves soon.

Spring Lambs

Friday, March 5th, 2010
It is a lovely spring day. In the fields baby lambs are being born. We coloured a picture of a lamb and we stuck on cotton wool. They look really nice and lively.

Science Open Day

Thursday, March 4th, 2010
We held our Science Open Day this morning.
We invited our parents and grandparents, teachers from our school and the senior school, our chairman and lots of other classes to come and see all the work we have been doing all year in science. It was a busy morning. Each of us took responsibility for an experiment, and could tell all our visitors about how to do our experiment and how and why it worked. It was a fun but exhausting morning. (Click on each picture to see a bigger version of the page!)

The Hungry Caterpillar game

Thursday, March 4th, 2010
We played a great dice game with Mr. Donnellan. It is based on the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and it is a game which helps us decide which foods are good for us, and which foods are bad. We learned lots by playing this game.

Pretty Daffodils

Thursday, March 4th, 2020
The daffodils are beginning to bloom. We made our own daffodils out of toilet rolls. They look great!

All about Food

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
We are learning all about food, where it comes from, how it grows and which kinds of food are good for us. Today we tried tasting different kinds of foods - salty, sour and sweet. We tried a sour lemon, salty crisps and sweet jelly worms. We like tasting foods, but we know not to try anything unless we are with an adult we can trust.
