Scoil Chaitríona Senior Parade

Today the band from Scoil Chaitríona Senior went marching round Renmore.
We were thrilled to see them in all their splendor.
We are so proud of our brothers and sisters in the senior school.
Well done Scoil Chaitríona Senior!

Gardening in March

It was such a nice day that we decided to look after our class garden.
We weeded the garden, cut the grass beside our garden, put worms in our garden, picked some carrots and took out all the dead leaves.  Our garden looks great now.
Teacher showed us how to use a nutcracker.
We are listening in class to the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker Suite.
Now we know what a nutcracker is!

Outdoor PE

The book fair is in the hall this week.
Luckily the weather was gorgeous so we went outside with Katie for a wonderful game of football.

Signs of spring

After chatting about the signs of spring we decided what we like best about spring.
Here is a data chart of our favourite Spring things.
If you had the choice, what would you choose?
We had great fun counting and comparing groups, classifying items into plants and animals, looking at colours of spring and talking about spring in general.
WE LOVE SPRING!

St. Patrick's Day art

Look at the gorgeous badges and headbands that we have made for St. Patrick's Day next Sunday!
Each one is hand made and so is an original!

Shoe the donkey

Seo é seachtain na Gaeilge.
D'fhoghlaim muid damhsa nua.
Tá muid an-sásta linn féin.

Visiting the book fair

The Book Fair has arrived in our school this week.
We went to the halla today to visit the fair.
We browsed through lots of fun and interesting books.
We might even like to buy a few.

Messy, our dragon

Look at the magnificent dragon that Caimin made for us over the weekend.
Our dragon, Messy, is delighted to see himself looking so handsome.
We are so proud of you Caimin!

Animals and their babies game

We play a fun animals and their babies game.
Each person has to find their partner.
Each time they find someone that doesn't match exactly they have to swap cards.
This is quite a challenging game but it is a lot of fun.

Daffodils in ink

Teacher brought in daffodils from her garden.
She put one daffodil in red food colour and one in blue food colouring.
The third one has half its stem in red and half in blue.
We think this daffodil might turn purple (or maybe half blue half red).
We wonder which?
Look what the daffodil in red colour looked like 24 hours later.
This is Jack's pale yellow daffodil in blue colour.
This is the daffodil in half and half.  It looks a bit withered but it is clear you can see the two colours in it!

Mrs. Geraghty's tadpoles

Mrs. Geraghty invited us to come and see her tadpoles.
These have grown from frog spawn in her class.
She is returning them back to the pond to let them grow among their friends.
We were so happy to see them.

Our class picture

Our dragon picture on the wall of the school.  We are so proud of it!  Each of us did a little bit of this picture. It was a real class effort!

Using our instruments

We were in a very musical mood this morning.
We played our instruments to the sound of some great kids songs.
Everyone could choose the instrument they wanted to play and then we swapped round lots.
We are proud of the music we can play!

Messy the Dragon

We heard a lovely story about "The Lonely Dragon".
We drew our dragon, did some drama based on our story and made a Voki avatar about our dragon.
We will probably do some artwork based on our dragon story too.

Keeper of the keys

We played a great drama game called "Keeper of the Keys".
In our version, one of the children is as the keeper of the keys and sits on a chair with the keys beneath him/her.  Another child steals the keys then rushes back to their own place and hides the keys.  Then our keeper can turn around and try and guess who has the keys.  This is a fun game.  We really enjoyed playing it.

Logic trail

These bears have been sorted so that each bear differs from the one before in one way only (either colour or size).  Can you figure out our sorting?
