Rocket Mice

We started off Space Week 2016 by making rocket mice.
We cut out circles (after first tracing circular shapes).
We made the circles into cones and stuck on ears and tails.
We used empty bottles as launchers.
Our rocket mice flew off into space!
(They used air under force to fly)

Balloon Rockets

We launched rocket balloons with Ms. Lally/Ms. McCaul's class.
First of all we had to try and figure out a way for our balloons to fly in a straight line.
We tried tying the balloon onto the thread using an elastic band.
This was a good idea but it didn't work too well.
We eventually decided that if we stuck the balloon onto a straw and put the string through the straw, that this would work much better.
It did!
We could even get the balloon to fly uphill!
This rocket uses air under force to fly (just like the rocket mice).

Animation with Lara Luxardi

Our finished animation (Monday).
We are sooo proud.
Thank you so much Lara!
We had a really exciting day today (Thursday)
Lara came to show us how to make our own stop motion animations.
Today we concentrated on making our own sea creatures (with movable parts and 2 sets of eyes) and the backgrounds we will need for the animation.
We had a lot of fun with paint, collage, fabrics, different painting techniques and of course with using our imaginations.
Tomorrow we will concentrate on the animations.
We can't wait!
We have made our creatures, decorated backdrops, and today (Friday).
Lara helped us to take photos of our animations.  We moved our creatures and Lara took lots of photos.  She will join the photos together and edit them.  We added sounds and Lara will add these to the animations too.
We can't wait to see how our animations will all turn out.

Tens and Units

We have great banker games to play in Maths.
Each player throws a die.
They collect that number of counters.
When you have 10 you can swap for a bigger item.
The winner collects the most in the time allowed.
