Lions in cages: Tricking Our Brains

Now you see it, now you don't!
If you draw and cut out a lion and stick it onto a pencil, and then stick a cage on the opposite side of the pencil, you can spin the pencil so fast that it looks like the lion is IN the cage.
When the pictures spin very quickly our eyes can follow the movement, but our brains struggle to keep up and we get fooled into thinking that both are moving together.
W

Some of us tried landing a man on the moon, putting a monkey in a tree, putting a fish in a fishbowl, a dog in a kennel, a lion in a cage or a bird in a birdcage.
It is easy to get our eyes to trick our brains!

Medals galore

Some of us won medals last weekend.
Teacher is very proud of us..
Speeches, gymnastics (vault, p-bars and mushroom), boxing, tennis, cricket.
We are a talented bunch!

Marine paintings

We painted some amazing marine pictures.

Mindfulness with Brenda

Brenda did mindfulness with our class today.
We enjoyed tapping on our feet, knees, hips, back, neck, head, forehead, temples, eyes, nose, chin, heart, lungs, elbows, hands and shoulders.
We did mountain stretches, river flowing stretches, frog stretches, marine wave stretches, wing stretches.
We sprayed water withour hands, and we did superhero and one legged poses.
We really enjoyed the session and we felt very calm afterwards.

Drama with Ms.Tierney

We had an absolutely wonderful session with Ms. Tierney who is a teacher in the school but is on career break at the moment to learn more about and to teach more drama.
We loved the drama chants Ah yay oh and olé olé.
We made a circle quickly each time we heard "outer space".
We played lots of great games: Name and gesture game, Stop-go-jump-clap game, I'm alright pair work, The big itch and Detective observation game.
The best part of all was the storytelling: Hans Christian Anderson's-The Emperor's New Clothes.
We so loved joining in the whole story.
Emperors in lovely clothes.
Those naughty crooks!
The emperor with his new invisible suit!
Thank you so much Ms.Tierney.
Drama is SOOOOO much fun!

Making Rainbows

Rainbows are made when light shines through something that can bend the light (like rain or water).
Today we used glass prisms to bend sunlight.
We were able to see little rainbows on our page.
White light is made of the colours
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo (navy) and violet (purple).
These are the colours of the rainbow.
