Posting our parcel to Israel

We took a walk to the post office today to post our parcel to Israel.

Teacher had already bought the stamp yesterday so we wouldn't have to wait too long in the post office.

  On our way we saw pine cones in some trees and magpies in other trees.

 We were very careful crossing the road.

As we crossed the road we said our poem:

Stop, look and listen

Before you cross the street

Use your eyes, use your ears, and then use your feet!

Oops, the letter box outside the post office was too small for the parcel,

but the lady at the post office desk took our package and will give it to the postman this afternoon.

Then our toy will be on its way to Israel!
On our way back to school we looked at all sorts of different houses:
bungalows, two story houses, one three story house, semi-detached houses and detached houses.

Sequencing: The story of Hansel & Gretel

We know the story of Hansel & Gretel really well since we are doing this play for the Féile Scoildrámaíochta (Irish Drama Plays) on the week of February 10th-14th.

Today we lined up the pictures of the story on a story line.  

We even added numbers so it looked like a number/story line.

We were able to tell all the events of the story in the right order.

Stay safe

We are doing the Stay Safe programme at school.

Our Gingerbread House

Teacher received a gorgeous Gingerbread cake from Sticky Bakes café in Oranmore when they heard that we will be doing a play about Hansel and Gretel.

Imagine our surprise when we saw it for the first time!

After looking at it and admiring it for a while, we began to examine it more closely.

We found rectangular roof tiles and circular walls.

We found triangles, and patterns in the buttons and jelly tots.

We noticed that the door was a gingerbread rectangle and that the snowman was made from spheres, and was standing beside jelly beans that were in the shape of ovals.

We think that the chimney is a cylinder or perhaps a cube.

Santa had even visited the gingerbread house and he had brought presents with him.  We wondered what could be inside the cube and cuboid shaped presents?

We could even spot a few cone shaped bushes beside Santa.

This gingerbread house IS AMAZING!

Matching numbers and numerals

 We had fun matching numbers to numerals.

We  raced each other to be the first group to finish.

We enjoyed working together and helping each other.
