Fun with CVC words

We really enjoyed writing CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words today.
When we finish a word, teacher checks it, we can wipe it out and take a new word.
We are learning to spell lots of words.

Learning about Poland

Today we had a wonderful talk about Poland from Zbigniew and Malgorzata.
We learned lots of things about Poland.
It sounds like a nice country to live in.
We were thrilled when we all got to try some Polish chocolate and Polish juice.
They were delicious.
We have a new student in our class.  She is from Poland too.
We have called her miś (which means Teddy Bear in Polish).
We learned how to say "Hello" "Goodbye" and "Thank you" in Polish.
We will work hard to try and remember these new words.
We found Poland on the map.  It is much much bigger than Ireland.
,
We saw the crest of Poland.  It is an Eagle with a crown.  This eagle is on Polish money too.

We liked looking at animals and birds of Poland

and we especially liked hearing "Happy Birthday" being sung in Polish.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful talk today!

dziękuję

A Christmas Star!

We really love making shapes.
Look at the wonderful star we made with magnets today!

Visiting our school library

Today we went to visit our school library.  We enjoyed picking our own books.
We had time to read our books, and we chose ones to take home with us.
We are going to visit the library every week from now on.

Marshmallow shapes and eating with chopsticks

We had a very interesting lesson today.
We made lots of interesting 2D and 3D shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks.
Can you recognize these 2D shapes?
(hint: square, triangle, pentagon, rectangle and hexagon)
and these 3D shapes?
(hint: cube, cuboid, triangular pyramid, square pyramid and triangular prism).
We tried wriggling them with our hands and found that the shapes made from triangles are much stronger than the shapes with no triangles in them.
Then when we had finished making great shapes, we had a lesson in using chopsticks (which we were learning about when we talked of China last week in Geography).
We used the chopsticks to eat up all the little marshmallows. We put the toothpicks in the bin!
Our shapes were really delicious!

Christmas in our classroom

Here are some of the decorations for Christmas and Christmas things we use in the class.
Books, Christmas train, surprise box and crib,
Decorations for the window, Advent wreath and Advent calendars,
We love the story of the first Christmas!
